Synopsis (for a feature film) An ordinary Soviet citizen in 1978 Moscow is moved to foil a monstrous American-inspired plot designed to shield an American Embassy official from having to account for his crimes in Moscow. A Russian medical doctor, unable to practice in his field on account of his father's dissident past, is, through the KGB, unwittingly conscripted by an American Embassy official to keep the suicidal mother of a 10 year old boy alive. In an effort to save himself from the murder of the boy's father and from criminal adultery with the boy's mother, also a capital offence, he offers to spy for the KGB, and install the boy as the adopted grandchild of the American official's father, the US Secretary of State; and as a sleeper spy. This story, through our Russian protagonist, explores between what is right and what is easy; between who, one really is and who, with courage, one might be. Albert Ferranti * * *
